Living Waters of Mussoorie

Tilak Tewari and CEDAR

This year, 2025, designated as the Year of Glacier Preservation by the United Nations, the Living Waters Museum collaborated with the Center for Ecology, Development, and Research (CEDAR Himalaya) on a water story for Mussoorie, titled "Living Waters of Mussoorie" as part of a larger effort towards a pan-Himalayan water, culture and society initiative. This story examines the historical connection between the popular hill station of Mussoorie in Uttarakhand and its springwater, which originates from glaciers in the Himalayas. It highlights how water has shaped the landscape and the cultural fabric of the town, from ancient settlements to colonial infrastructure and contemporary water issues.
